How do Rutgers users personalize their email addresses?
Rutgers users may select a personal email by going to netid.rutgers.edu and clicking on Manage Email Addresses on the left bar.

How will members of the UMDNJ community access electronic resources after July 1?
All UMDNJ faculty, staff, and students will need a Rutgers NetID after July 1. For most people, their UMDNJ RUID username will seamlessly become their Rutgers NetID username. However, about 1,250 people—some at Rutgers and some at UMDNJ—will need to select a new username since they share their identifier with someone at the other institution. These people are being contacted directly with instructions about selecting a new username.

How will UMDNJ email addresses change as a result of the integration with Rutgers, and when will this occur?
UMDNJ users will receive Rutgers email addresses for use beginning on July 1 in the form “user@unit.rutgers.edu,” where “user” is the personal identifier and “unit” is the school, institute, or unit the user is affiliated with as of that date.

Will UMDNJ email addresses (i.e. @umdnj.edu) continue to work after the integration, and if so, for how long?
After July 1, email to UMDNJ addresses will be forwarded to the user’s new Rutgers email account. Forwarding will be maintained for at least two months during which time users should notify senders of their new rutgers.edu email address. 

How will UMDNJ emeritus faculty be provided email service after the integration?
Details of email service for emeritus faculty are being developed and will be communicated when available.

Will legacy UMDNJ faculty, staff, and student contact lists, folders, and saved email be accessible with their new Rutgers email addresses?
All existing contacts, email, and email folders will be maintained and system address books automatically updated as part of the transition to a Rutgers email address.

How long will UMDNJ organizational email addresses continue to work (e.g., NJDSDentists@umdnj.edu)?
Organizational email addresses at UMDNJ will forward to appropriate Rutgers email addresses through July 1, 2014.

Will individual UMDNJ email addresses (i.e., @umdnj.edu) continue to work after the integration, and if so, for how long?
After July 1, 2013, email sent to UMDNJ addresses will be processed in the following manner. From July 1 to September 1, 2013, email addressed to existing UMDNJ email addresses will be forwarded to the new Rutgers email address. After September 1 and until May 1, 2014, email will continue to be forwarded, and the email sender will automatically receive a notification with the new Rutgers email address.

From May 1 to July 1, 2014, senders of email to UMDNJ addresses will receive a notification with the new Rutgers email address, and will be instructed to resend the email to the new address. After July 1, 2014, senders will receive a notification that the UMDNJ email address is no longer valid.

How can contact information for legacy UMDNJ personnel be found after July 1?
The Rutgers online directory of personnel, available at search.rutgers.edu, will have contact information for legacy UMDNJ personnel who become part of Rutgers as of July 1.

Will the new Rutgers email address for legacy UMDNJ users be usable with existing Outlook service for UMDNJ email accounts after July 1?
The new Rutgers email addresses will become the default addresses for legacy UMDNJ email accounts accessed through Outlook as of July 1.

How will UMDNJ users be kept informed about changes to their technology services as of July 1?
During the month of June, UMDNJ users will be notified by email of changes to their email address and technology services as of July 1, and will be provided with information regarding Rutgers technology services and support resources.

How will UMDNJ emeritus faculty be provided email service after the integration?
After the integration, legacy UMDNJ emeritus faculty will be able to obtain a Rutgers guest NetID and access to associated services, as Rutgers emeritus faculty are currently afforded.

Will legacy UMDNJ students be able to access the computer lab, printers, and wireless services in the Academic Center on the Stratford campus for Rutgers programs operated at that location after July 1?
Plans are being put in place in conjunction with Rowan University to provide Rutgers students with access to technology services as part of their academic programs in Stratford after July 1.
