Visual Identity

Beginning July 1, 2013, all legacy University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) entities are required to follow the standards and policies that are part of the Rutgers Visual Identity System. Training on the system was provided to all legacy UMDNJ units.

Information on decisions made and key items that may be obtained is below.

The Approved Marks

The Executive Steering Committee approved the signatures shown here as the new visual identity elements for legacy UMDNJ units. A full package of graphic elements were supplied to each unit. Faculty and staff who need replacement or new elements may login to identity.rutgers.edu with Rutgers NetIDs to obtain those files or request new files.

Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Signature

The approved signature for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is used by the office of the RBHS chancellor, the offices of the two RBHS provosts, and the schools and programs located in Newark, New Brunswick, Piscataway, Scotch Plains, and Stratford.

School Signatures

School signatures follow the design standards used for all schools and colleges at Rutgers.

Clinical Practice Signatures

To accommodate the needs of the clinical practices being transferred to Rutgers, a design treatment, new to the Rutgers Visual Identity System, was created and approved for use by clinical units whose primary purpose is to provide patient care. If a clinical entity exists primarily for the purpose of educating and preparing students to deliver health care services or products, that clinical entity will use the approved school signature.

Clinical Attire

Clinical attire—Lab coats, scrubs, shirts, or other required garments—branded with the UMDNJ name or logo may not be worn after August 5, 2013. Replacement attire with Rutgers branding is being provided and distributed at Rutgers expense.

Stationery

A stationery system with Rutgers marks has been created for legacy UMDNJ schools and clinical practices. Samples can be seen on the visual identity website.

Business Cards

Rutgers has agreed to supply one 250-count box of replacement business cards at no cost for all legacy UMDNJ faculty and staff transferring to Rutgers who currently receive UMDNJ cards. Ordering may be done through a portal in the stationery section of the visual identity website.

Ordering Stationery

Legacy UMDNJ units may work directly with the Print Services Department to order letterhead, envelopes, and additional business cards.
